review

I am really happy with the way my images turned out. Throughout my project I had been looking at different ideas for my shoot, one of them being to use a projector and have images being projected over my model. I really liked this idea but taking a few factors into consideration like, I had not used the phase one camera before. I only had 2 hours to do my shoot and that I am not the most confident in the studio. I plan to use the projector idea in another one of my projects next term as the images that I did practice with looked really good.

It was a learning curve using capture one. I found the editing process was very similar to lightroom but as the files were so big the programme took a lot of ram to run. It really slowed down my computer. I am used to fast editing on lightroom and it did become frustrating. But over all I think it is an easier process on phase one.

here are the 6 images i am using in my final layout. i think these images work the best for the iPad layout design.

my shoot

I’m really pleased with the way my shoot went. i would have liked to have had a little bit longer but over all i think it went well. i had to clean up a lot of the studio before my shoot which ate into my time slightly. using the phase one was a good experience although i am not completely confident with it yet. it is a very heavy piece of equipment and a bit temperamentally. the clutch on the auto focus was gone on the camera so had to manually focus. this caused some of my images to be slightly out when i was able to look at them on the big screen but luckily i shot enough to cover it. i think i still need some practice using the phase one to gain more confidence.

this is my lighting plan for the shoot. this may change on the day. i want to create a clean white background similar to images i have posted before.

i have decided to not use the projector in my shoot for i pad. i think it will over complicate things and as i am using a camera that i am not 100% confident with and have a 2.5 hr shlot in which to shoot the images i think it would be better to keep it simple. i plan to use this idea in the cuter for different projects as i think it looks really cool.

here is a selection of the images i done up against the black background. i prefer these images but plan to do multiple versions on my shoot. i shot these using my dslr. but on the shoot i have to shoot using the phase one camera. in these images i have not used another light but i may try lighting my subject using a directional light if the projections are too strong, or to try and eradicate any fierce shadows.

i have taken some test shots using the projector in the studio. I’m really pleased with the way that they have turned out. this collection of images are just of my model (dav) up against a white wall. i had to keep him close to the wall to reduce the shadow. i wanted to try using a black background so the focus was on the projection across the body of my subject rather than the image in the background.

this is the model i will be using for my shoot he is also going to be my stylist. i will be working with him to choose clothes for the shoot. he currently works for Ralph Lauren as a buyer and knows a lot about menswear fashion.
